Our Burgee

The yellow of our Burgee comes from one of the colors of the Arecibo Coat of Arms. The three vertical lines indicate the three reasons of our being: Service, Education, and Fellowship. The wheel is indicative of the nautical vessels we enjoy. The captain's hat is related local hero that protected the Arecibo city from foreign attacks, Captain Correa. Arecibo is also known as "La Villa del Capitán Correa". The wolf represents the nick name of "Sea Wolf" for Víctor Rojas, who with his swimming skills saved many lives at waters of the Atlantic Sea. Both emblems were also used to represent local sport teams. The basketball team is known as "Los Capitanes" and "Los Lobos de Arecibo" for our county's baseball team.
